Save Lives, Save Children, Make Living Wage Jobs, Create Self Dignity. I don’t really think my goals are that difficult to understand. What rule is it that states if one is not an elected official and/or not a President/CEO of a major multi-billion dollar company one can not create and/envision a significant/major solution to gun violence in the USA?
Ok people it is time to wake and smell the roses. It’s time to stop picking on the companies that have chosen to manufacture their products in some other country versus right here in the USA. Don’t entirely blame the companies; it is “us” the consumer and their stock holders that demand they make the substantial profit the companies are making combined with selling their products at incredibly low prices. If anyone would like to pay an additional 20%-30% more for nearly all products they purchase please step forward.
The time has arrived to make friends with these companies that currently have been wise and manufactured their products in other countries. A discussion to provide them with financially intelligent choices based on optimum profits and stock holder happiness can and will provide a compelling reason for bringing them their manufacturing and assembly operations back to the USA.
It seems that every day when I log into my computer before classes start and my teacher responsibilities begin at Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois that CNN.Com highlights or news flashes yet another mass shooting. Early on often the reason or motive appears to be non-existent or missing all together. Sometimes however the media outlet does convey a motive that might include a thin but real motive similar to the magnitude of a property line disagreement, or perhaps a person seeking their 15 minutes of fame. The sad thing is that the list of dead has grown yet again and CNN.com is passing on the grim details for all to read or watch.
It is time that our elected officials focus on the cause or motivation of what exists in the persons mind to make the conscious decision to pick up the gun or knife and commit the deadly life ending crime. As a teacher at an inner city school I recently posed to my students the same question/thought.
It would be simple to propose all sorts of legislation to limit our Constitutional Rights, propose larger jails, employ more police, employ more judges, give money away to not for profits to fix the problem, and/or propose ill advised economic development projects using tax payer money in areas that are predisposed to high crime.
While these solutions make for great NEWS at 5:00 Political ribbon cuttings and the like… they are only a small band-aid on the cut or a cup of water on an already raging fire. The better solution is to determine what created the cut and what ignited the fire.

Complaining about gun violence, unemployment and high crime rates in Chicago, or Rockford Illinois is getting very popular for local politicans and the media.
I think all the politicians in both Rockford and Chicago Illinois should get together and have a really big press conference for all the media to attend to provide as much “NEWS AT 5” footage as possible. Lets hear all the complaints about lack of police officers, lack of jail space, lack of handcuffs and finally the need for stiffer sentences for those that break the crimes.
At what point will there be a willingness to sit down with innovators, problem solvers, high ranking “Decision Maker” politicians to develop, implement Free Enterprise business model solutions to the “reasons or causes” of gun violence/violence and high crime rates?
News Flash: Due to the fact that all three policical parties agree that there must be some cuts to the government it has been decided that not voting on budget cuts saves them from political suicide.
This way all three parties can hem and ha, bicker and complain and clamour for News at 5 headlines telling the voters they are working feverishly and frantically to avoid the massive cuts due to hit March 1.
Who is the fall guy that the American public will blame for the Sequester? Answer: Someone by the name of Bowles – Simpson Bill. Lets face it… Mr. Bill is not an elected politician and is not up for re-election. Unless there is a person and a face to blame the American public can not and will not blame a face or one political party for the entire Sequestration.
On March 1 the cuts will take place, the elected politicians will all moan and grown, and the economy will take one more step toward the “New Normal” for the United States economy.
All the politicians will swear they did their best to avoid the Sequester, while knowing full well that it was needed to trip the deficit. The public will moan and grown for 48 hours and once again have something to complain about regarding the economy.
Finally, the mainstream media will have many evenings of stories showing all the unhappy folks that will be impacted l first hand the ramifications of Mr. Bills bill.
I am proud to say that I am a high school teacher in an inner city, Rockford Illinois. Recently I asked my students their explanation of gun violence and/or violence in our community.
The results were surprising and exasperating at the same time.
1. Under-educated adults due to lack of parental guidance and support
2. Over 20, incapable of attending and graduating tech school or college due to family responsibilties
3. Unloved young people seeking family seek out gang families
The way I see it is that “we” the United States of America lack any program or job/education/training program for young adults and adults alike that:
1. Have a GED
2. No GED but would like a realistic reason to pursue GED
3. Unemployed Tech School, Junior College, or University that needs job specific education
My personal opinion: “We” need a viable for-profit business operation that attempts to engage the disengaged population of young adults and adults that have been cast off as a lost population.
I have a plan that does this and God willing I will at some point get the ear of someone that can/will make it happen.
Indeed there is a magic want to create jobs. It takes an innovator, problem solver and perhaps someone that lives it each and every day to in fact search out and find that evasive magic wand that you claim does not exist.
For some reason the media and elected officials refuse to accept that a person not in the public eye, not elected, not terribly egotistical can actually search out find that magic wand to job creation. Really?
Here is the problem in a nutshell:
1. Lack of living wage jobs in America
2. Lack of educated Americans to take the jobs that already exist
3. Corporate America realized that after The Great Recession of 2008 that they no longer need millions of extra employees to get the job done.
4. Unemployed workers want jobs, but either re-training is difficult to accomplish or excessively expensive.
5. 1,000’s of United States Manufacturing companies have moved their manufacturing operations to Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan and other low wage, low skill, low need countries.
6. The middle class is disapearing and the lower class is growing as the nearly 80% of the United States lacks post high school education.
7. Age 40+ Americans are being laid off at astounding numbers as a result of the “new norm” in the global market place as it relates to financial compensation.
CNN – Mr. John D. Sutter the solution is not that difficult, but by no means impossible to impact within each and ever downtrodden community in the USA.
Everyone likes a good deal on everything and anything they purchase. That in my opinion is not a bad aspiration. Everybody would like to purchase 115 oz soda for $1.00. Everyone would like to eat as much McDonalds, Burger King, Wendys, Arbys and Pizza Hut food as they humanly consume with the gain of weight on the onset of heart disease.
That being said, when are Americans going to realize that until they really decide that America’s future prosperity is important enough to not shop at a retail establishment that benefits exclusely Walmart stock holders, and China the return of jobs to the USA are not likely?
The number 98% may sound exagerated but in fact that number is a number stated by Walmart executives and even at that they conceed that “the real percentage could be even higher”.
I think it is about time that retail establishments begin to post in their stores much like the calories posted in fast food resturants where each product is manufactured.
Perhaps then companies that manufacture products in the United States will have a more level playing field with the companies that are happy that the public does not know their products are manufactured elseware.
Living Wage Jobs, Less Gun Violence, Living with Dignity are all charactistics that every American should be assured. Sadly, the class structure as it exists today nearly makes that impossible.
Americas’ financial implosion of 2008 rocked to the core of every Americans existance. Gone were the days when banks had any latitude for underwriting business loans or for that matter home loans.
While some may argue, I feel the vast majority of working age Americans are wanting and willing to work on a daily basis. As a teacher in a inner city high school I hear stories of parents not working because they are better off not working due to wage and hour availabilities. Less than 40 hours thus no insurance and minumum wage jobs thus not living wage jobs. Why bother working if no insurance, not enough pay and no future?
Currently, there are 100’s of American companies manufacturing their products in China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan and other non Norht American contries. In those foreign countries is in excess of $5,000,000,000.
Granted these countries only play their employees only $3.00 to $4.00 per day, but one must also place a financial cost factor on the time of shipments to that country, ocean transportation costs, bad PR related to their manufacturing on foreign soil.
It is time that we reward companies for returning jobs to America. It is time we reward our unemployed for getting a job. It is time we make it possible for the undereducated to receive their education. It is time that we provide a dignified future for those destine to commit crimes. All this can be accomplished within the framework of the Free Enterprise System.
For my entire life I have cared about everyone not just the hip or popular but also those that perhaps are not conventional that may flunk the test of Perception is 98% of Reality.
There are those of us that are fall under one if not many of the catelgories of Unemployed, Underemployed, Undereducated, Un-Family support team, Un-Loving family that none the less seek a dignified day to day existance.
I am a strong believer in the Free Enterprise System and not a big advocate of entitlement. What I am trying to do with my blog is to get the attention of the our elected officials to convey that as an innovator, problem solver and entreprenuer that I have devised a plan not to limit 2nd amendment rights we all have but rather instead to limit the needs for the bad guys to have a reason to pick up the innate gun and use it for the wrong reason.
